Guess was born in California in 1981 from the initiative and genius of the four Marciano brothers: Georges, Armand, Paul, Maurice, Jews of Moroccan origin and raised in Marseille. The Marciano family has small clothing stores scattered between Marseille, Toulon, Aix -en-Provence and Saint-Tropez. During a vacation in the United States, Georges realizes that in the USA denim trousers are a bit like each other (the only difference is a different decoration in the back pocket) and there are no jeans processed in stone-washing, the process which makes them suitably worn but which also makes the fabric more malleable and therefore able to accommodate female forms.
